| With the approval of both the Vermont and New Hampshire legislature, the Samuel Morey Bridge was constructed by the Hagen-Thibodeau Construction Company for just over $200,000. The design of the Bridge is known as a single tied through arch and is historically significant as one of the last remaining structures of this type. Experience from the flood of 1936 led to elevating the floor of the bridge far above flood levels and the avoidance of the use of a central support pier in order to allow an unobstructed flow of the river. |
