The original part of this home was built in 1797 by Elisa Williams, the first hatter in town. The northern part of the house was built in 1868. The building served as a home for Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carr. Clarence Carr ran the livery business mentioned earlier. At the southern end was a post office run by postmistress Mrs. Hittie Carr from 1925-1940.
