Two White Frame Houses

The first house was the site of a doctor’s office in 1828 and the following year the second home was built. The land between the Mann property and Abiathar Britton’s was listed as being owned by Asaph Mann, Daniel Quint and Royal B. Annis. The second house served as a location for a store, shoemaker and then a residential home. John Corliss built the small middle ell in 1844. The main section in the front was built in 1883 on the site of the brickyard above the Orford Academy building. It was moved to this site in 1903.
