Wilcox House

Leonard Wilcox was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1817. He was a representative to the state legislature, a Superior Court judge and eventually became a United States Senator. He married Samuel Morey's daughter, Almira. Morey gave his daughter the neighboring land for a wedding present and the Wilcox house was built in 1819. Their houses were actually connected by a covered walkway built high enough to allow carriages to pass underneath. Almira died in 1830, and Leonard married Mary Mann three years later. Samuel Morey will left his Ridge home and moved to Fairlee after his daughter's death.
